Grain-free, lactose-free, sucrose-free diet that allows only specific carbohydrates (monosaccharides) that are easily absorbed. Eliminates complex carbohydrates that feed pathogenic bacteria. Well-established for IBD.
Eliminate all grains (wheat, rice, corn, oats, etc.), potatoes, lactose-containing dairy, processed sugars
Allowed foods: Most meats, fish, eggs, most vegetables, most fruits, nuts, aged cheeses, homemade yogurt fermented 24+ hours
Start conservatively: Well-cooked meats, peeled cooked vegetables, clear broths for first days/weeks
Gradually add raw vegetables, fruits, nuts as tolerated
Make SCD yogurt: Ferment 24 hours to eliminate all lactose
Use honey as only sweetener (all sugars except monosaccharides forbidden)
All foods must be fresh or frozen, no canned (except select items), no additives/preservatives
Follow strictly for minimum 1 year before attempting food reintroductions
Keep food diary and track symptoms
Many combine with probiotic supplements, digestive enzymes initially
Strong evidence base for IBD. Gottschall's daughter cured of UC on this diet. Mechanism makes sense (starve pathogenic bacteria). Can be combined with medication. Less restrictive than GAPS but still challenging.
This protocol is documented for educational purposes only. The Gabriel Bullshit Score (GBS) of 76 reflects significant institutional response and controversy. Some alternative health protocols have resulted in serious harm or death.
Always consult with qualified healthcare professionals before beginning any treatment. Do not delay or forego proven medical care.
The Gabriel Bullshit Score reflects the magnitude of institutional response, controversy, and documented concerns. Higher scores indicate greater institutional pushback, not necessarily inefficacy. This is a research tool, not medical advice.
